Yoga Booklets

On February 15th, 2023, the Rexdale Women's Centre officially launched our Yoga Booklets for new moms and seniors at the Community Information Fair.

The purpose of these books is to provide illustrations of yoga postures used at the Rexdale Women's Centre in the New Moms Yoga Program and the Senior Yoga Program. They are meant to be helpful to participants in in-person classes, during online instruction or for self-practice. Each posture is shown with models of varying flexibility and experience. The practice of yoga can be a part of a healthy lifestyle. Instructors and practitioners have discovered the following benefits to participation in yoga classes:

  • Increased flexibility and range of motion

  • Increased mental focus

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Helps attain a feeling of calmness and serenity

  • Improved balance

  • Increased strength and endurance

  • Some experienced reduced joint pain

Personal Responsibility - Waiver
It is the participants responsible for ensuring they are fit enough to practice yoga, as illustrated in these books. The postures have been selected with new moms' and seniors' abilities and limitations in mind. The authors or instructors can't know the condition of every participant. Therefore, participants should discuss any medical or physical concerns about their ability to participate with a trusted medical professional. If pain or even moderate discomfort occurs, stop the posture and recover completely before resuming.
